How to create an AMI Meter?

To create a Meter, go the Meters on the main menu bar and select the Create Meter button.

Select AMI Meter to add a smart meter.

In the create form, there are three keys pieces of information:

  1. External ID ⇒ This is the client unique identifier for the meter.
  2. Serial Number ⇒ This is what is used to communicate with the metering head-end system.
  3. Location External ID ⇒ This is the Location where the meter is installed.

You don't have to set the Location External ID to create a meter, however it must be set to create an Account.

Once you have created the meter, review the details to ensure it is correct. If you didn't set the Location External ID on creation, you can add it later using the meter edit tab.
